Around 300 million in people in the US alone come down with cold or flu every year. Today the common cold will last for 5-10 days. During this period a patient will displays symptoms of runny nose, sneezing nasal and sinus blockage, headache and sore throat. Flu symptoms are much more severe than cold and often get confused with symptoms of the common cold. The flu works by infecting the airway tract in the nose and throat that can sometimes spread down into the lungs. A patient with the flu virus experiences symptoms like body aches, high fever, dry cough, red eyes, weakness, flushed skin and dry cough.
How the Salt Room Can Help
Dry salt therapy helps to strengthen our immune systems and enables us to fight off infection. Over the counter and prescription drugs may ease the symptoms of the common cold or provide a short-term relief for the flu virus, it may be only a couple weeks until you’re affected again. Salt & Soul's salt therapy will not only bring relief but also prevent the cold or flu from reoccurring in the long term. The flu season begins in late fall and continues during winter in the northern hemisphere. This time of year is a good time to begin “salting” as a form of prevention.
Most people find them in situations where they are overly exposed to bacteria, therefore making them extremely vulnerable to circulating colds or the flu. For example, working in an office environment. Salt Therapy is effective or who otherwise come in contact with many people on a day to day basis. It can help you avoid a cold before and after travel. It also helps ward off the bacteria kids are exposed to in school.
While coming into the salt room while sick or contagious is not encouraged, we do encourage entering the salt room to prevent us from getting sick. Once you have been "salting" for a couple of months, you will notice that your immune system is stronger. Not only will you be staying healthy but doing so in a quiet and relaxing environment.
